Why would you create your own custom GPT?

We know when you use CHAT! meme

So you don’t sound like the generic version of ChatGPT! (insert shocked Pikachu face!)
If you’re writing on behalf of yourself, your boss, or your organization, you need to sound like you, not like every other AI on the internet. A Custom GPT enables you to train ChatGPT to understand your unique voice, style, and priorities.

It’s like giving ChatGPT a personality transplant, yours.

How to Create a Custom GPT

Yes, dear, you’ll need a ChatGPT Plus or Pro account to make one. Trust me, you’ll get your money’s worth on the first day you use it.

Here’s the step-by-step instructions:

Get in the right place.

Go to ChatGPT in your browser.
In the top right corner, you’ll see a “Create” button next to “My GPTs”

Creating a Custom GPT

Prep before you click “Create.”

You’ll need a name for it, a description (just make it something GOOD), a logo (optional), and any other instructions you have for it.
***THIS IS THE BIG DIFFERENCE*** You can make your own prompt for your GPT (the old way of doing it), but asking Chat to help you make that prompt is much easier, faster, and I think you get a much more thorough prompt generated. (Thanks Seher!)
Open a new chat window and ask Chat GPT: “Give me the best possible prompt to create a Custom GPT based on my website: [insert your website here].”
Add any other instructions that you think will help Chat speak on behalf of your organization. Stop words, things it should never say, competitors’ names (so it doesn’t use them), and special instructions.
If the prompt it gives you isn’t good enough, ask it in a nice tone, to edit it to make it better. (you can do this several times over to get a better result)

Copy & paste the magic.

Take the prompt ChatGPT gives you and paste it into your new Custom GPT’s instructions. (Screen shown above)
If you have annual reports, PDFs, blog posts, or any writing that shows your style, upload them right to the knowledge centre in the same screen (after “Conversation starters”).

Give it a look.

Upload your logo or make a cool cover photo (or get Chat to make one!).
Add any special instructions, tone guidelines, or inside jokes that make it “you.”

Publish it.

When you’re done, ChatGPT will give you three options:
- Private (just you)
- Anyone with the link (perfect for teams)
- Public (for the world)
- If you’re using it for your organization, choose Anyone with the link and send it to your team.

Other Uses for Custom GPTs – This isn’t just for marketing.

HR Departments → Upload policies, procedures, and training docs. New hires can get answers instantly. Onboarding documents, history, policies, ANYTHING that could help your team.

Sales Teams → Load product catalogues, case studies, and pricing sheets so your GPT can answer client questions instantly. Set up training scenarios, use case studies from the past, write about your best customers versus your worst customers.

Marketing Teams → Ideate with your custom GPT. It can write your strategy for the next year out, manage goals, outcomes and key results, and rewrite the boss’s speech for that dinner coming next week! Ideas, social strategies, marketing initiatives, Chat is taking over your marketing department, and we’re here for it!

ChatGPT just became the smartest person in your company

With a Custom GPT, you basically build a brain for your company. It can write on your behalf, including emails, proposals, executive summaries, press releases, pitches, marketing strategies, social media content, Frequently Asked Questions, stories, and any other content you need to create.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Stratlab team has been fantastic. In the last 2 years Stratlab has helped us to overhaul our website.  I am not a tech person, but in working with Carter, Dustin, or Brandon, bit-by-bit we've been able to revolutionize our Events Guide from what it previously was. With pretty much every idea I've had, some I didn't even know if they were technically possible, these wizards have found a way to make them happen. They are also usually super quick to make requested changes or fix any weirdness that may arise.
We've had one of the best-looking and most user-friendy tourism Events Guides in the country that even our residents are getting excited about using!
You can tell these guys are passionate about their work and care about getting their customers exactly what they need & want.
