I’ve been talking about AI for the better part of a year now, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all, quite the opposite really!

So we wanted to make a place where folks can go to learn all about this tool that’s literally changing the world as we type.

Section 1: Learning about Artificial Intelligence (AI)

First we’ll start with education and a video from none other than Sal Khan (of the Khan Academy fame). His Ted Talk How AI Could Save (Not Destroy) Education is an instant classic on the power of this new tool.

How are YOU using AI to learn new things?

Next up, we have the class, which is a bit dated, but if you’re brand new to AI and ChatGPT, then this is a good starting point.

I’ve taken this class and it’s a great overview of how to use Chat to its full capability. If you don’t use ChatGPT and you’re on Perplexity or Copilot they also have classes you can take FOR FREE!

Setting up a Custom GPT

This is how you should be using Chat. Not the regular basic ChatGPT, but a custom GPT, set up specifically for your needs/voice. Once you give Chat enough context, it becomes a much more powerful tool. It keeps your voice on brand, comes up with ideas you wouldn’t think of, and can help brainstorm ideas, content plays, lists, titles, blogs, stories, things about you and your organization you would never come up with.

Creating a Video With Artificial Intelligence

This is evolving incredibly fast. Before I went on stage in Kelowna to talk to curling clubs about AI, I tried my hand at creating a video using the GPT “VEED” (a free video creator). It made a commercial at my request. Now, it was “filmed” in a hockey rink but the average viewer wouldn’t be able to tell.

Creating images with ChatGPT

In the past 6 months, this has come SO far. We never used to use image generation because it couldn’t get words right, ever. Like, it was terrible. Then, with the release of 4.0, all of a sudden, image generation was amazing. Accurate, and you could give it instructions to create similar images to a studio. The now-famous Ghibli Effect added one million users to ChatGPT within one hour. Impressive even for OpenAI!

Creating songs with Artificial Intelligence

Music has been forever ruined, thanks to Dustin Ballard. His YouTube channel “There I Ruined It”, as of this writing, has 1.28 million subscribers. Below is his TED Talk, Why I use AI to Ruin Your Favourite Song, ” which is an enlightening take on how AI is impacting creativity.

This article from the World Health Organization is an eye-opener when it comes to the impact of AI on Healthcare.

AI can interpret brain scans

A new AI software is “twice as accurate” as professionals at examining the brain scans of stroke patients. Two UK universities trained the software on a dataset of 800 brain scans of stroke patients and then trialled it on 2,000 patients.

There’s no way any doctor could be as good as an LLM that’s trained on thousands of doctors’ work.

Detecting early signs of more than 1,000 diseases

A new AI machine learning model can detect the presence of certain diseases before the patient is even aware of any symptoms, according to its maker AstraZeneca.

One of the significant time wasters in healthcare is administrative work. Monotonously writing down conversations, transcribing notes, doing things an AI assistant can do much, MUCH more efficiently.

The weather is extremely unpredictable, and a place where AI is desperately needed to get a head of things like storms, wildfires, and anything else Mother Nature has in store for us. ChatGPT saved my dog’s life after vets couldn’t figure out diagnosis

This was a cool story I heard about on a Podcast that is peering into the future of how we’ll use AI as a vital assistant.

The vet couldn’t determine the problem with the dog, but gladly gave over the bloodwork to the owner so they could get another opinion…from ChatGPT. With a quick recommendation, they were off to a different veterinarian and saved the dog’s life.

I am not a tech person, but in working with Carter, Dustin, or Brandon, bit-by-bit we've been able to revolutionize our Events Guide from what it previously was. With pretty much every idea I've had, some I didn't even know if they were technically possible, these wizards have found a way to make them happen. They are also usually super quick to make requested changes or fix any weirdness that may arise.
We've had one of the best-looking and most user-friendy tourism Events Guides in the country that even our residents are getting excited about using!
You can tell these guys are passionate about their work and care about getting their customers exactly what they need & want.
