Not long at all. Like literally less than a minute. So short we had to make a screen recording of Brandon doing it. It’s 13 seconds long.

If you’re like most people, the mere mention of Google Analytics is enough to send you into a panicked frenzy. There’s no need to worry just yet – you have until next July to make the switch to GA4. In the meantime, let’s take a look at what this update entails and whether or not it’s actually worth your time. GA4 is all about privacy, or so Google claims. The main difference is that GA4 collects data anonymously, rather than using cookies to track individual users. This means that your data will be less accurate but, supposedly, more private. Whether or not this is actually an improvement is still up for debate. The jury’s still out on GA4, but one thing is for sure – you have 10 months to figure it out!
We wanted to help you talk to your website company, especially if they are trying to bill you for this switchover.
A quick Google search shows it should take approximately 30 minutes. But as anyone who’s installed Google Analytics before, it’s a very simple process. If it takes longer than 15 minutes we may have a problem.
To install Google Analytics, you copy the tracking code and paste it into the back end of your website. It literally takes less than 5 minutes. Depending on your internet connection, it may take less than a minute. So why are companies charging for this service?
Since we’ve started, we’ve heard many stories of people being billed for Google Analytics, Google Analytics updates and Switching over to the new GA4. None of these should be a billable offense. To quote Corbin from the website company Command Base,
“If it takes me longer to make an invoice than to fix your problem I’m not billing you for it.”
I’ve always loved that attitude. The opposite of “nickel and diming” people.
Did you buy a discount website? Did you negotiate a smoking deal on your website? The only way I would be okay with billing for Google Analytics help would be if you bought a REALLY cheap website and there literally is no budget left to do anything. But then, why were you buying a discounted website in the first place?! You deserve to be billed for Google Analytics!
We install Google Analytics on every website we build. We add clients to every website too. We’ve never billed for Google Analytics, quite the opposite actually. I always am willing to meet with past clients to discuss their analytics FREE OF CHARGE! You already paid us to build your website, you shouldn’t have to pay to have us help measure success too!
