Waskoosis Safe Shelter, in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, has been aiding domestic violence survivors since 1992. With a new home since October 2020, they offer 21 beds for 6 families in a cozy, homelike setting. They’re a Status Blind organization, helping women and children of all backgrounds. This shelter provides safe refuge, counseling, and operates 24/7, ensuring safety with security cameras. Named in honor of Martha Bear, a pioneering woman chief, they continue her legacy. They have a fully-equipped kitchen, clothing room, and future plans for fitness and yoga rooms, plus a hair-cutting salon area, all to support women and children in need.
