nēhiyawak is a unique Cree language immersion camp held annually in the natural beauty of Saskatchewan, Canada each July. With 19 years of history, it’s a transformative experience that draws participants from across Canada and even internationally. This not-for-profit camp is dedicated to building language skills and vocabulary while immersing learners in Cree culture and ways of knowing. Participants learn to introduce themselves, hold basic conversations, and share stories confidently in Cree. Skilled teachers offer diverse arts and land-based learning. Camp locations change yearly, and online learning options are available. Expect a profound journey to strengthen Cree identity, language skills, and connection to Cree culture and the land.
