We like Vermicelli bowls A LOT. It’s a common lunch choice around the office. 5 years ago someone mentioned all the different (and amazing) Vietnamese Restaurants in Regina, there was too many to count. We’ve always wanted to do the challenge, we’ve always wanted professionals to compare the taste of these delicious bowls and tell us who had the best bowl in the city. Friday, Jul
How does a Vermicelli bowl rookie decide on where to go for supper in Regina? A perplexing issue if you’re hungry and need a perfectly cooked Broiled Pork and Spring rolls.
Based on a simple criteria we chose the top 5 places in Regina to get a Vermicelli bowl. Vietnamese Garden, Quán Ngon, Ngoc Van, Nhu Y Tea Tree, and Viet Thai were are the contenders. And only one could emerge victorious.
The judging criteria: spring rolls, pork, noodles, flavour, freshness, fish sauce, presentation.
5. Nhu Y Tea Tree
4. Vietnamese Garden
3. Ngoc Van
2. Quán Ngon
1. Viet Thai
Technically Quán Ngon and Viet Thai tied. But Quán Ngon doesn’t have the same Vermicelli bowl as the other 4 did. The conclusion of the judges was that if you’re looking for a Vermicelli bowl, Viet Thai is their go-to. For Pho, Quán Ngon is the top pick.
Side note. Just because Tea Tree scored last doesn’t mean they don’t have great food. We go there regularly too, it’s delicious! And special shoutout to Langs for starting the Vermicelli movement in the city.
