My presentation from today’s event for Tourism Saskatchewan: Double Tap Your Efficiency on Social Media, tips and tricks to have you posting like a pro!

Why Social Media?

Social media is a powerful tool that connects us with audiences like never before, offering businesses and individuals alike the chance to share, engage, and grow. With billions of active users across platforms, social media opens doors to new customers, strengthens brand presence, and builds community in ways that traditional advertising simply can’t. By optimizing how and where you post, you can maximize your reach without doubling your work.

It’s Never Been Easier to Post!

Today, creating high-quality content is simpler than ever, thanks to innovations in technology:

  • Better Cameras: Smartphone cameras are now so powerful that anyone can shoot sharp, engaging visuals in seconds.
  • Enhanced Platforms: Social media platforms have evolved, making it easy to edit, tag, and post (and schedule posts!) all within the app.

AI Tools: Tools like ChatGPT can now generate compelling captions, summarize content, and even suggest hashtags in seconds, saving valuable time in the content creation process (even captioning a photo you upload!).

Double Tap Your Efficiency on Social Media

Google’s 4-11-7 Rules

The 4-11-7 Rule is a powerful strategy to boost brand awareness and increase conversions by creating a multi-platform presence, providing engaging content, and establishing repeated touchpoints with your audience. Here’s how it works:

1. Post to 4 Different Places

Diversifying where you share your content is essential to expanding your reach and connecting with different audiences. Aim to post across 4 platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. The idea is to appear wherever your audience is, giving your brand more visibility and making it easier for potential customers to find you.

2. Have 11 Hours of Content

People want to dive deeper into brands before they decide to buy. Providing about 11 hours of content—whether through videos, blog posts, podcasts, or social media stories—gives potential customers the opportunity to engage, learn, and gain confidence in what you offer. This content also reflects your expertise and value, setting you apart from competitors.

3. Reach Customers 7 Times

Most customers need to see your brand 7 times before they’re ready to make a purchase. These “touchpoints” build familiarity and trust over time. By posting consistently across multiple channels, you ensure your audience sees your content at various times and contexts, which can lead to a higher likelihood of conversion.

Cross-Posting Content to Save Time

Cross-posting is a strategic way to reuse and adapt your content across platforms. Here’s how you can maximize your reach:

  • Create a Central Content Calendar: Designate a single place to plan your content, whether it’s a Google Doc, the Notes app on your phone, or your email drafts. Include key dates, target audiences, and ideal times to post.
  • Always Ask, ‘Where Else Can This Go?’ When you’ve created a post, think about how it could work across multiple platforms. For example, a blog post summary could be a LinkedIn article, an Instagram story, or a Facebook post.pick your platforms

Adjust for Each Platform:

    • LinkedIn: For professional or long-form content.
    • Facebook: Great for community-driven posts or personal stories.
    • Instagram: Visually appealing images and videos with shorter captions.
    • YouTube: Turn longer content into informative or entertaining videos.
    • TikTok, X (Twitter), Pinterest: Adapt visuals, quotes, or short videos to reach even broader audiences.

Getting Started To cross-post efficiently:

  • Draft once, and adapt as you go. Write a post in a way that’s adaptable for multiple channels.
  • Use scheduling tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later, which allow you to post across several platforms simultaneously.
  • Batch content creation: Spend time once a week or month creating content, then schedule posts so they’re ready to go.

What are your three P’s?

People, Passions, Projects. Or Inspiration, Education, or Promotion. Pick several different themes you can create a bunch of content around. You want to keep it fresh with your audience and keep them guessing. I’ve always loved the idea of being “consistently surprising.” Think about it, it’s not easy to be consistently surprising.

The best accounts have some combination of people, passions, and projects.

Learn how to use Canva, CapCut, and ChatGPT.

The writing genius.

To help with writing everything! Proposals, reports, captions, emails, this blog post! Use chat as your much more intelligent companion.

For video editing, add logos, text, or music to a video. Aid version is well worth it, look up templates for reels. You can thank me later.

Lastly, Canva. So you can design or edit everything. Non-profits can apply to get pro for free. We pay for it, and it’s money that is well spent. Canva is powerful. Editing images, adding logos or text to an image, use templates to help you design smarter.

Measure like your job depends on it (because, let’s be honest, it probably is!)

All the above won’t make any difference if you don’t measure! It’s the only way you get better. Taking over an existing account? Look at the insights to see what’s worked in the past, and never guess what people will want to see on your social media feed.

Run reports once a month or quarter. If you can get actionable insight out of it, that would be great! If you have too small of following there may not be much to measure, start growing that audience of yours today!

The Stratlab team has been fantastic. In the last 2 years Stratlab has helped us to overhaul our website. I am not a tech person, but in working with Carter, Dustin, or Brandon, bit-by-bit we've been able to revolutionize our Events Guide from what it previously was. With pretty much every idea I've had, some I didn't even know if they were technically possible, these wizards have found a way to make them happen. They are also usually super quick to make requested changes or fix any weirdness that may arise. We've had one of the best-looking and most user-friendy tourism Events Guides in the country that even our residents are getting excited about using! You can tell these guys are passionate about their work and care about getting their customers exactly what they need & want. I'm sad that I'll no longer be working with this crew due to transitioning to another department at work, but I highly recommend the Strat Lab team for any web design project 👍👍

I recently had the privilege of working with Brandon at StratLab, and the quality of his work is truly next‑level. After one quick call to share my vision for a bat demo video, he understood exactly what I needed, and delivered something far beyond what I imagined. His attention to detail, creative precision, and top‑tier expertise show what real professionalism looks like. Every frame, every transition, every moment was crafted with intention. He respected timelines, communicated clearly, and made the entire process effortless. I can only hope to work with Brandon again.
