UCAS & African Descent Professional Associates
UCAS & African-Descent Professional Associates (UCAS & ADPA Inc.) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting equality, human dignity, and cultural diversity in Canada, with a particular focus on African descent Canadians and immigrants. Informed by international declarations such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UNESCO Declaration on Race, UCAS & ADPA Inc. strives to eliminate systemic racism, advance integration, and foster social, economic, and community development. This organization emerged from the Uganda Canadian Association of Saskatchewan (UCAS) in 1990, evolving over three decades of community engagement and cultural diversity work. In January 2023, UCAS formalized its transformation, adopting a new name and mandate to better reflect its expanded focus. The vision of UCAS & ADPA Inc. is to create a healthy legacy of people of African descent contributing to Canada’s development through active and equitable integration, guided by core values of integrity, unity, family, professionalism, and equitable inclusion. Their mission involves research, program development, and advocacy to ensure respect for diversity and the elimination of systemic racism in Canadian society.
