As the theory states, the best food is never made by perfectly following a recipe. That means as you get better and better at your craft you must experiment, you must try new things, your art depends on it.
The presentation goes as follows. First we talk about why everyone is technically a genius. Section 1 “The plasticity of your brain”. Or like what Steve Jobs called, the greatest thing about being human.
Section 2 is trying to figure out “What do you care about?”. Everyone cares about something. The faster you understand what you want to stand for, the quicker you can begin working on it.
Chapter 3 is about challenging you to “Take risks now (say yes!). Big fan of “Yes Man!” philosophy over here. If an opportunity presents itself you must take said opportunity. Risks get more difficult as we age. The younger you are the more risks you should be willing to take.
Period 4 is about why Having “smarts” doesn’t matter. The smartest person in the world is useless if they can’t communicate with their peers. Also, if they are the smartest in the world AND they can communicate but they’re an asshole? Still useless. You must be able to get along with other people, and remember, no one likes a know-it-all.
Act 5 is about why “Having money doesn’t matter”. I mean it matters to a lot of people, but it shouldn’t to you. You have a bigger purpose to worry about, a larger calling.
Act 6 is about Doing “what they say” doesn’t matter. Every one of us has to take what our friends and family tell us and forget it. Our parents generally want what’s safe for us, that’s usually in contradiction of what will make us happy in the long run. It’s okay to disagree with your loved ones. I understand.
Chapter 7 is “Learn to make chocolate chip cookies”. Meaning, do something that takes effort and can be made better over time. Pick something that has a fairly quick feedback loop and by definition you’re going to learn a lot.
Finale is “Have a dream”. No one’s going to tell you what your dream should be. You need to ask they person staring back at you in the mirror what they want. It’s not easy but after a while of consistently asking yourself, you’ll eventually figure it out. If not lets go for a coffee and talk about it.
