But I haven’t.
I’ve never been able to finish a full ride at the speed of the motivator. I have to take breaks and sometimes go at half speed (specially in Jenna’s or Michael’s classes).
I sometimes get to Wheelhouse and just want to sit in my car and not go in. Every day I think to myself, “I could quit”, any day I can cancel the membership and make my life easier. But a smart man once said, “When you have the choice, choose courage over comfort.”
“When you have the choice, choose courage over comfort.” – Tim Ferriss
It’s the things in life we struggle for that are the most worth it. The things we have to work really hard for in life are the things we cherish later on.
In Ori and Rom Brafman’s book Click they talk about how World War 2 vets who experienced fatal combat during the war were almost twice as likely to stay close friends years later. Experiencing something difficult together with a group of people brings you closer to that group of people. It makes you feel like you’re a part of something bigger than yourself, and that builds confidence.
I always look forward to the hi-fives, the friendly people, and the hippin’ and hollerin’ in the vault. Struggling to accomplish a goal with a bunch of other people is really invigorating. If you haven’t tried Wheelhouse you should. It’s intimidating, it’s hard, you’ll want to quit, but you just might look forward to that 45 minutes of pure bliss after a while.
If you suck at working out like I do, give Wheelhouse a try. I was skeptical at first but fell in love. K, gotta run! I have a 12 o’clock ride with Dez!
PS: my favourite theme rides would be a Disney theme, 90’s TV show theme, an “Aqua” ride, and a River Dance class.
